24 Months old Toddler
Observe your toddler at play–climbing a jungle gym, jumping up and down excitedly, or running with joyful abandon–and it’s hard to believe that she was barely walking a year ago. Amazing, too, is the progress she’s made in fine motor development. At age 2, your child can stack several blocks together to build a tower and then happily knock it down, play with simple geometric puzzles, feed herself with a spoon or even with a fork, drink from a sippy cup, and make initial (sometimes adamant) attempts to dress herself. She enjoys activities that involve using her hands and fingers–finger painting, drawing pictures, or splashing in the bathtub or pool. This active little being, once so tiny and helpless, is making physical strides now. With each new skill she masters, she’s growing more independent and confident.
